Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency (SFSWMA) proudly serves the Santa Fe community by providing safe and responsible Free Household Hazardous Waste Day BuRRT Saturday, March 14-8am-1pm. Our annual Household Hazardous Waste Day offers residents the opportunity to safely dispose of materials that require special handling, such as motor oil, antifreeze, automotive products, paints, aerosols, household cleaning chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and more. This free, community-focused event uses a convenient drive-thru format at the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT), designed to make your experience safe, easy, and efficient.
With a focus on protecting both public health and the environment, SFSWMA’s expert team ensures that hazardous waste is processed according to all regulations, minimizing risks to households, neighborhoods, and the local ecosystem. Our trained staff will unload your hazardous waste materials directly from your vehicle while you remain inside, guaranteeing a seamless and safe process.
SFSWMA has a long-standing reputation for reliability, compliance, and exceptional customer service throughout Santa Fe and surrounding communities. We are committed to ongoing education and convenience for city and county residents—if you cannot attend the event, you may bring your household hazardous waste to BuRRT every Friday and Saturday all year round. Our competitive pricing covers up to 240 lbs of materials per visit, making eco-friendly disposal affordable for all.
We accept a wide variety of hazardous items, including common automotive fluids, pesticides, pool chemicals, and electronic components. For the safety of all, please note we cannot accept items such as electronics, televisions, e-bike batteries, explosives, radioactive waste, or medical sharps at our facility.
