About Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival
The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival is one of the most renowned chamber music festivals in the world, and part of its allure is that it draws inspiration from its namesake hometown, which is famously and affectionately known as the City Different.
In two intimate, historic, and charm-filled venues, the Festival presents approximately 40 concerts and 100 artists every summer. Longtime Artistic Director Marc Neikrug’s programming is the gold standard—thoughtful, unpredictable, comforting, and challenging—and the artists he invites are the best in the world, whether they’re venerated legends or electrifying new talents.
Highlights of the Festival’s 53rd season, which runs July 19–August 24, include pianists Jeremy Denk, Kirill Gerstein, and Orion Weiss giving solo recitals; baritone Benjamin Appl singing three song cycles by Schubert; Alan Gilbert playing music by Beethoven and Mendelssohn; guitarist Meng Su in an all-Bach recital; Santa Fe Opera Music Director Harry Bicket leading Opera musicians in Bach orchestral suites; and return appearances by bassist Edgar Meyer and the Dover Quartet.
We’re also presenting premieres of five commissioned works plus our lecture series, BAM!! Insights on the Brain & Music, whose topics range from innovative discoveries about the effects music has on memory and emotions to music’s therapeutic potential.
