White Pine Conservation Hikes in Santa Fe, New Mexico

About Santa Fe Forest Coalition

Welcome to the Santa Fe Forest Coalition, your trusted partner in forest conservation and environmental advocacy in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Our mission is to protect the rare and threatened white pines of the Santa Fe National Forest, which are currently under siege from deadly fungus and the impacts of a warming climate. Unlike other national forests, the Santa Fe forest has yet to update its management plan to safeguard these vital trees, and we are committed to raising awareness and driving action to ensure their survival.

We invite you to join our engaging and educational guided hikes, such as our popular Summer Hike for White Pines. Led by experienced naturalists and conservationists, these moderate hikes offer participants the opportunity to explore the beautiful Big Tesuque Trail while learning about the unique challenges facing white pines and the broader forest ecosystem. Our hikes are open to everyone, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for the environment.

At the Santa Fe Forest Coalition, we believe that education and hands-on experience are key to inspiring lasting change. Our events are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all ages, with frequent stops to appreciate the natural history and biodiversity of the region. Whether you are a seasoned hiker or new to outdoor adventures, you will find our hikes both informative and rewarding.

In addition to our hiking events, we provide resources and advocacy opportunities for those who want to get involved in forest preservation efforts. Our team is dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management practices and influencing policy to protect our natural heritage for future generations.
